UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Apr 10 — Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reviewed the process of building defensive structures and fortifications near the border with Russia in Kharkiv Oblast, the presidential press service reported.
“The Kharkiv region is a very important direction. We have to be prepared. And Russians must see that we are ready to defend ourselves. And our people must understand that Ukraine is prepared in case the enemy tries to attack,” Zelenskyy said.
The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, noted that the fortifications include an extensive system of trenches, dugouts, and other types of shelters. Barrier lines, such as concrete pyramids, dragon’s teeth, and anti-tank ditches, are being set up in the region.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine developed the project, taking into account the experience of soldiers on the first line of defense.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also awarded police officers and rescuers who worked in the aftermath of the Russian shelling of Kharkiv.
