UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, May 31 — In the Kharkiv direction, there were two combat engagements over the past day, reports the General Staff.
The Ukrainian military did not allow Russian troops to advance near the village of Starytsia on this axis.
On May 10, Russia launched a new ground offensive north and northeast of the Kharkiv region, in the Vovchansk and Lyptsi directions. Military analysts and the Ukrainian military said Russia’s main goal in a new offensive would be to stretch Ukrainian troops and resources and force Ukraine to pull forces away from Donetsk Oblast and other directions, such as the Kupiansk axis.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russia tried to push Ukrainian forces out of their positions nine times.
Ukrainian military repelled six Russian assaults near Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Miasozharivka, and Druzheliubivka. Ukrainian troops did not lose any positions, and the situation is under control, General Staff reports. Currently, combat is ongoing near Druzheliubivka, Andriivka, and Ivanivka.
During the day, the Russian Federation launched one massive missile and airstrike on the territory of Ukraine, using 19 missiles of various types, two missile strikes (using three missiles), 52 airstrikes, using 74 guided bombs (KABs).
The Russians also used 554 kamikaze drones to attack Ukraine. They also fired over 2,980 times at the positions of Ukrainian troops and settlements using various types of weapons.
