The NATO Secretary General emphasized that in 2022, the Ukrainian Defense Forces were able to liberate most of the territory, and in 2023 they successfully attacked the Russian logistics and the Black Sea Fleet, which is destroying the capabilities of the Russian Armed Forces.

There have been no dramatic changes on the frontline in Ukraine in recent months, but fierce fighting continues. We need to prepare for a long and difficult war. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba before the NATO-Ukraine Council.

According to Stoltenberg, it should be understood that “terrible” battles have been going on at the front in recent months, despite the absence of severe changes on the line.

“Last year, Ukraine was able to liberate most of the territories, and this year it is successfully hitting the Russian rear, the Black Sea Fleet, and this is destroying Russia’s capabilities. The defense forces continue to inflict heavy losses on the Russian army,” the NATO Secretary General stressed.

He also noted that F-16 jets will help increase the losses of the Russian occupiers and strengthen Ukrainian air defense, but will not break the situation on the battlefield.

“We need a lot of systems. We need to prepare for a long and difficult war. We need HIMARS, missiles, air defense systems, but there is no single system that can change everything,” the Alliance Secretary General said.

As a reminder, Jens Stoltenberg said during a press conference at a meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers in Brussels on November 28 that the Russian Federation intends not only to continue its attacks on Ukraine this year, but also to significantly intensify them.

Gwara’s choice

Most Ukrainians support Ukraine’s membership in the European Union and NATO (78% and 77%), but their number has slightly decreased compared to June 2022 – Poll.
