UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 15 — Russian troops dropped glide bombs (KABs) on the center of Zolochiv, Kharkiv region. The bomb attack injured six people, including a 12-year-old boy, said the Head of the Zolochiv Military Administration, Viktor Kovalenko, to Gwara Media.
Towns and villages of the Kharkiv Oblast come under massive Russian artillery shelling and air strikes often, even more so since Russia launched a new ground offensive north and northeast of the region in the Vovchansk and Lyptsi directions in May.
“There was a hit in the center of the village. I noticed at least several houses destroyed by direct hits. One of the glide bombs hit the house of a woman with a disability; another hit the yard where a boy and his father live; they were injured,” Kovalenko said.
The injured are in the hospital with shrapnel wounds, and doctors are providing them with medical assistance.
The attack also severely damaged the premises of a kindergarten, a social services center, a music school, and the “Zoria” newspaper office, and destroyed and damaged dozens of houses and outbuildings, two cars, and power and gas networks.
UNITED24 Media, citing the data from the Ministry of Education, reported that since the beginning of the full-scale war, Russians have destroyed or damaged over 600 educational institutions in the Kharkiv region. In total, during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russians destroyed or damaged more than 3,000 educational institutions of various types.
