UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 9 — In Vovchansk, Kharkiv region, the Russian army is preparing to conduct assaults in the neighborhood with high-rise buildings and near the aggregate plant, reported the “Kharkiv” group of forces.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

The Russians are engaging additional personnel of the Storm troops of the 153rd Tank Regiment of the 47th Tank Division and providing logistical support to conduct assaults in Vovchansk, the military said.

Near the village of Hlyboke, Russians mined the area. The units of the 155th Separate Marine Brigade engaged in this area have a low morale and mental state, reported the “Kharkiv” group of forces.

The “Kharkiv” group of forces refutes the information published by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) about the possible full occupation of the aggregate plant in Vovchansk by Russian troops, saying the plant was taken over by Russians at the beginning of their May offensive in the area. Now, “Kharkiv” spokesman said to Gwara Media, Russians are blocked there.
