UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep. 22 — At the beginning of September, in Kupiansk, Russian soldiers shot at a 74-year-old civilian man who was driving his bicycle, reported Kharkiv’s regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Russian troops intensified their offensive in Kupiansk this August: they are trying to encircle the city and, at the same time, keep attempting to transfer heavy equipment across the Oskil River north of the city.
Prosecutors’ Office said that Russian soldiers shot at a 74-year-old man when he drove his bicycle in Kupiansk. After being shot, the man fell onto the road and managed to hide in the reeds.
From the reeds, the injured man saw two soldiers in Russian uniform approaching the road.
Later, the man reached a neighboring street, receiving first aid from the locals.
Ukrainian soldiers helped him evacuate to Kharkiv for medical treatment the next day. During the operation, medics removed a bullet from a Kalashnikov rifle from the man’s leg.
The injured man shared these details during questioning. The Kupiansk District Prosecutor’s Office in the Kharkiv Region investigates a war crime.
