UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep. 4 — On the night of Sep. 4, Russian troops launched a drone attack on Lozova, south of the Kharkiv region. Drones damaged energy infrastructure, leaving more than 40,000 people without electricity, reported Oleh Syniehubov, the region’s governor.
Now, energy specialists are assessing the scale of destruction at the impact sites and working to determine the timeframe for reconnecting residents, reported Lozova Urban Territorial Community.
Preliminary estimates suggest that the complete restoration of the energy supply could take up to a week.
Serhii Zelenskyy, the head of Lozova District Administration, said that the city is currently using alternative energy sources to maintain water supply and sanitation services, hospitals, and critical infrastructure.
Three schools in Lozova are operating Points of Invincibility — special shelters created in 2022 after Russia started attacking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. These shelters provide heating and allow people to charge their phones and other devices.
