UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, June 7 — The Russian drone strike hit a civilian car in Kozacha Lopan, Kharkiv region, said Serhii Bolvinov, head of the investigation department of the Regional Police.

“The 62-year-old local woman was driving the car, and another 64-year-old woman was with her. A Russian drone attacked them unexpectedly, right in the middle of the road, around 1 p.m.,” Bolvinov said.

Both the driver and the passenger sustained injuries. One of the women had shrapnel injuries to her face, arms, and legs. The other received similar injuries and a laceration to her thigh. They are in the hospital.

In May 2024, a civilian car came under Russian shelling in Vovchansk. The Russians killed two people. According to the investigation, four civilians were trying to leave Vovchansk by car. While leaving the city, they came under Russian shelling. A 70-year-old driver and an 83-year-old passenger died at the site from their injuries. 

Towns and villages of the Kharkiv Oblast, especially border settlements, came under massive Russian artillery shelling and airstrikes since Russia launched a new ground offensive north and northeast of the region in the Vovchansk and Lyptsi directions on May 10.
