UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 23 — On August 22, the Russian army attacked the village of Kozacha Lopan in the Kharkiv region with artillery, hitting a building of the village council. Rescuers found two bodies of women under the rubble, said Viacheslav Zadorenko, head of the Derhachi city military administration.

Towns and villages of the Kharkiv Oblast come under massive Russian artillery shelling and air strikes often, even more so since Russia launched a new ground offensive north and northeast of the region in the Vovchansk and Lyptsi directions in May.

“Due to the extreme activity of enemy FPV drones and the threat of artillery strikes, we could not involve special equipment in the process [rescue operation]. However, during the search operations, the bodies of two residents who worked in the village council were found. The main task now is to unblock them and hand over the bodies to their families for burial,” he wrote.

Earlier, Oleh Syniehubov, governor of Kharkiv Oblast, said that rescuers pulled one woman out of the rubble. She had light injuries.

The governor said that in six months, Russian attacks in the Kharkiv region have killed 293 people, including 15 children. During this time, the Russian army attacked the region 2,700 times with various types of weapons.
