UKRAINE, DEC 28 — The Ministry of Defense in Ukraine certified a bulletproof vest developed specifically for women, reports a representative of the Central Department of Development and Material Support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Sharko.

A Ukrainian company, Ukrainian Armor, manufactures the armor. It has a curved armor plate, narrower shoulders, and an extended bottom part of the vest to fit the female anatomy. A prototype was approved after two rounds of trials.

The weight of the vest starts at 10.5 kg (~23.1 lbs) depending on the armor’s size and components, which isn’t different from armor that has been approved for use in Ukraine.
