UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 22 — The situation in the Kharkiv direction remains tense with Russians most active in Vovchansk, where they are trying to assault the positions of the Defense Forces from different directions, reported the “Kharkiv” group of forces.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

“Kharkiv” reports that the Russian army continues to regroup near Hlyboke and Buhruvatka. 

According to the press service, the Russian Federation has deployed personnel of the 155th Separate Marine Brigade to positions near Hlyboke.

Also, Russian troops launched one missile attack in the Kharkiv direction over the day using a Kh-35 missile. They also conducted 33 kamikaze drone strikes and fired 395 times at the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

The Russian army lost 82 troops in the Kharkiv direction over the day, reported the “Kharkiv” group of forces. Also, the Ukrainian troops destroyed 81 units of weapons and military equipment in the Kharkiv direction, including seven artillery systems, 20 vehicles, six units of special equipment, and 48 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
