UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 15 — Russian troops regrouped their personnel to conduct assault operations to recover lost positions near Hlyboke, reported the “Kharkiv” group of forces.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

The military said that the Russians are rotating troops near the village of Lyptsi, and logistics and evacuation activities are underway there.

“In Vovchansk, sporadic movements of the enemy in the central part of the city were spotted, [aimed] to continue assault operations. The occupiers also continue to conduct aerial reconnaissance and fire from artillery at the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces,” the statement said.

The Russian army is also replacing personnel at positions near Tykhe and the village of Starytsia, where Russians are trying to set up defensive positions, reports “Kharkiv.”

Over the past day, the Russian army dropped three glide bombs (KABs) and launched 43 kamikaze drone strikes on the Kharkiv axis, military says.

“Kharkiv” reports that the Russian army lost 96 troops in the Kharkiv direction over the past day. The Ukrainian military also destroyed 70 pieces of Russian equipment, including one tank, five armored combat vehicles, five artillery systems, nine vehicles, seven units of special equipment, and 43 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Ukrainian forces also destroyed 76 Russian hideouts and three munitions storage sites.
