UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 23 — In the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops are trying to improve their tactical position near Hlyboke and are conducting assault operations in Vovchansk, reports the “Kharkiv” group of forces.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

According to the “Kharkiv,” Russian forces are conducting logistical activities and rotating combat units near Hlyboke. They are also trying to improve their tactical position near Lukiantsi.

In Vovchansk, the Russian army continues active assault operations, including in the high-rise building area. The Russians are striking the city using a heavy flamethrower system TOS-1A.

Over the past day, in the Kharkiv direction, the Russians launched one missile attack, reportedly using a Kh-31 missile, and one air strike using seven unguided aircraft missiles. They also conducted 56 attacks with kamikaze drones and fired 444 times at the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
