UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Jul 18 — Russians continue to attack near Hlyboke with assault groups unsuccessfully. They are trying to rebuild the units that have lost their combat capability, the “Kharkiv” group of forces reported.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

“Kharkiv” group of forces reported that, currently, Russia is preparing assault groups of three brigades for attacks in Vovchansk. The situation is under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In total, during the day, the Russians launched 21 air strikes against Ukrainian troops’ positions, using 26 glide bombs (KABs). They attacked near Hlyboke, Lyptsi, Mali Prokhody, and Starytsia. The Russian military also conducted 32 strikes with kamikaze drones and fired 483 times at Ukrainian positions.

Over the past day, the Russian army lost 124 people, one armored personnel carrier, and 14 artillery systems in the Kharkiv direction, the military reported. 

The Ukrainian military destroyed one Russian anti-tank vehicle, seven vehicles, three units of special equipment, 16 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), 92 shelters, and two UAV launch positions.
