UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Aug 20 — The City Council plans to borrow funds to upgrade the public transport fleet within the Urban Public Transport of Ukraine II project. This decision was made at an extraordinary session of the city council, reported the Kharkiv City Council.
The Urban Public Transport of Ukraine II project is a continuation of the joint project with the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Urban Public Transport of Ukraine I, which is aimed at improving public transport infrastructure in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lutsk, Odesa, Lviv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Ivano-Frankivsk, Mykolaiv, Ternopil, and Chernihiv.
The European Investment Bank will fund the purchase of thirty electric buses worth €15 million.
Earlier, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that during the #URC2023 conference in London dedicated to the rebuilding of Ukraine, it was agreed to purchase electric buses and charging stations.
The Russian military continues to carry out strikes using various types of weaponry, targeting not only civilian buildings and critical infrastructure but also urban transportation.
These attacks include strikes on buses, trams, and other public transport.
