Kharkiv State Academic Puppet Theater named after V. Afanasiev officially resumes its work.
Starting February 6, you can buy tickets at the theater box office, which will be open from 11:00 to 15:00 or online.
The repertoire for February includes three performances for children. Their titles and schedules have already been published on the official website: “A Fairy Tale for a Little Bunny”, “Speck”, “Balagan” and the wartime play “I’m Normal”.
Meanwhile, “I’m Normal” is a play by Ukrainian playwright Nina Zakhozhenko about four teenagers during the war that travelled almost half the world in a short time. The play was performed in Stockholm, Sweden, at the Royal Dramatic Theatre, in the Czech Republic, at a festival in Poland, in China, and in the United States.
About theater
The theater opened in Kharkiv on July 1, 1939. It presents a diverse repertoire of children’s and adult shows – a total of 25 productions, including the most impressive evening repertoire among Ukrainian puppet theaters. It has been a successful performer at festivals both in Ukraine and abroad.
The Kharkiv State Academic Puppet Theater named after Viktor Afanasiev operates in a building that is an architectural monument and has long been one of the city’s landmarks.
The building was designed by architect Alexei Beketov in 1907 and reconstructed in 1968 specifically for the puppet theater.
