UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Oct 17 — From October 9 to October 16, sappers demined more than 267 hectares of the Kharkiv region. In total, the experts defused 1,494 explosive devices, reported the Department of Civil Defense of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.
Kharkiv Oblast is one of the most heavily mined regions. More than 570,000 hectares of land in the Kharkiv region need to be inspected for mines and explosive devices after the Russian occupation.
Over the past week, the pyrotechnic units inspected over 217 hectares of agricultural land, nearly two and a half miles of highways, over eight miles of power lines, and five facilities.
The sappers also demined 31 households. In addition, 1,641 homes were reconnected to the power grid.
On October 16, pyrotechnics cleared more than 34 hectares of territory, more than 27 hectares of farmland, more than 500 meters of road sections, and almost one mile of power lines. During the day, they defused 307 explosive devices.
