UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, July 3 — Russian troops dropped 32 guided bombs (KABs) on the Kharkiv region over the past day, Oleh Syniehubov, Kharkiv Oblast Governor, said on Ukrainian TV.
Towns and villages of the Kharkiv Oblast come under massive Russian artillery shelling and airstrikes often, even more so since Russia launched a new ground offensive north and northeast of the region in the Vovchansk and Lyptsi directions in May.
“Since the beginning of the year, there have been hundreds of [Russian guided bombs] attacks. We had more than 100 strikes in Kharkiv alone, and more than 11,000 objects [of civilian infrastructure — ed.] were damaged. Of these, 3,000 were destroyed. And after almost every such attack, we have civilian casualties,” he said.
The mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, said that in June, Russia shelled Kharkiv 22 times with various types of weapons, injuring 92 people and killing six.
Terekhov noted that during the month, the Russian Federation used modified glide bombs (UMPB-D30) 19 times, guided bombs (KABs) seven times, and one missile to attack Kharkiv.
