UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, May 29 — Russian troops tried to assault Ukrainian positions seven times in the Kharkiv direction over the past day. The Defense Forces repelled four Russian offensives near Starytsia and Vovchansk, reports the General Staff.

On May 10, Russia launched a new ground offensive north and northeast of the Kharkiv region, in the Vovchansk and Lyptsi directions. Military analysts and the Ukrainian military said Russia’s main goal in a new offensive would be to stretch Ukrainian troops and resources and force Ukraine to pull forces away from Donetsk Oblast and other directions, such as the Kupiansk axis.

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian army lost 68 troops over the past day. The Ukrainian army destroyed three artillery systems, 12 vehicles, and three units of special equipment. They also damaged two Russian tanks, three artillery systems, and seven vehicles.

As the General Staff informs, there were 19 combat engagements in the Kupiansk direction. The Ukrainian military repelled 16 Russian attacks near Synkivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Druzheliubivka, Novoiehorivka, and Nevske. At night, fighting was ongoing near Petropavlivka and Nevske.

In total, there were 139 combat engagements along the frontline during the past day. The Russian army launched three missiles and 86 airstrikes on the territory of Ukraine using 96 guided bombs (KABs). They also fired about 3,000 times at the positions of Ukrainian troops from various types of weapons, including 187 attacks from multiple launch rocket systems.
