UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 12 — Over the past day, there were five combat clashes in the Kharkiv direction near Vovchansk, reported the General Staff.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

In addition, in the Kupiansk direction, Russians launched ten attacks on Ukrainian positions. Defense forces repelled Russian assaults near Pishchane, Berestove, and in the direction of Hlushkivka.

The Russian army also hit Synkivka and Petropavlivka in the Kharkiv region with airstrikes.

Over the past day, in the Kharkiv direction, Russia launched a missile strike (probably with S-300 missiles) and an airstrike using four glide bombs (KABs). They also launched 39 kamikaze drone strikes and fired 403 times at Ukrainian positions.

The Russian army lost 116 people in the Kharkiv direction over the past day. The Ukrainian army destroyed and damaged 50 pieces of Russian weapons and military equipment, including two tanks, seven artillery systems, 11 vehicles, nine units of special equipment, and 21 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).
