UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, June 21 — In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian military used aviation three times to storm the positions of the Ukrainian forces near Vovchansk, Lyptsi, and Tykhe, reports the General Staff. They say all the Russian attacks were unsuccessful.
On May 10, Russia launched a new ground offensive north and northeast of the Kharkiv region, in the Vovchansk and Lyptsi directions. Now, the frontline is reportedly stabilized by Ukraine’s troops, but heavy fighting is ongoing.
The General Staff reports that in the Kharkiv direction, Ukrainian troops destroyed a Russian armored personnel carrier, two artillery systems, 22 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), two vehicles, a UAV ground control station, and two ammunition depots. Also, the Ukrainian military damaged two Russian vehicles, an armored vehicle, and two artillery systems.
In the Kupiansk sector, General Staff writes, the Russian army tried to attack the positions of the Ukrainian troops 16 times near Stepova Novoselivka, Synkivka, Stelmakhivka, and Pishchane. Defense Forces units repelled 15 Russian attacks, but a battle continues near Stelmakhivka.
Oleh Syniehubov, Kharkiv Oblast Governor, said the Kupiansk direction is more important to the Russian army now than the offensive in the north of the Kharkiv region.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said that in the Kupiansk direction, Russian troops are conducting offensives, trying to break through the defense of the Ukrainian army and capture essential areas or settlements that impact the strength of the Ukrainian defense.
