UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep 4 — In the Kupiansk direction, Russian troops tried to assault the defensive positions of the Ukrainian army nine times, reported the General Staff.
Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)
The General Staff reported that the Russians attacked in the Kupiansk sector near Berestove, Stelmakhivka, Synkivka, Hlushkivka, and in the direction of Lozova.
In the Kharkiv direction, Russians conducted four attacks and assaults near Vovchansk.
On September 4, the press service of the “Gart” brigade reported that in the Kharkiv direction, near Vovchansk, mortar crews of the “Scorpion” unit of the “Gart” brigade destroyed Russian dugouts, fire positions, and trench lines.
