UKRAINE, Oct 1 — Russia’s advantage in the number of artillery shells over Ukraine has decreased compared to the beginning of this year but remains quite significant, Deputy Defense Minister Ivan Havryliuk said on Ukrainian TV.

According to Ivan Havryliuk, the ratio of artillery shells at the beginning of winter was 1 to 8, and now it is 1 to 3.

Havryliuk said that active work is underway to establish joint enterprises that can produce weapons and military equipment in Ukraine.

At the same time, the deputy defense minister said that it is difficult for Ukraine to compete with Russia in producing weapons, including artillery ammunition. Therefore, the assistance of international partners and the effective work of officials will be crucial.

According to the Ministry of Strategic Industries, Ukraine needs a quantity of artillery munitions no country can provide. To support Ukraine, the Czech Republic has launched an initiative to purchase ammunition for Ukraine, which about 20 countries have joined. Ukraine started receiving the first ammunition under the Czech initiative in June.
