On June 4, first lady Olena Zelenska and Kharkiv Governor Oleh Syniehubov attended the opening of the Spilno multifunctional center.
“A multimedia room for recording video lessons and podcasts is a real dream of modern “multimedia” children. This unique and, at the same time, an accessible option is available at the Kharkiv Regional Center for Psychological Assistance to Children, where the Children’s Multifunctional Center Spilno from UNICEF operates. Here, all conditions have been created for schoolchildren who are forced to study online but do not have the necessary means for this,” commented Zelenska.
The first lady of Ukraine notes that the center also focuses on psychological support. It helps children and adults overcome the stresses of war, reflect on relationships and feelings, and understand themselves and others.
According to Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, children from the Kupiansk community became one of the first visitors to the new center.
“Today, children from the Kupiansk community were brought to the center for an emotional reset. Their parents also came with them. Children are in dire need of psychological support because, in war conditions, they become even more vulnerable. We also plan to hold similar trips for children in the future,” said Syniehubov.
“Spilno. The meeting points” project is implemented in Kharkiv by the Professional Development of Kharkiv Foundation in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) of Ukraine and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine. The project aims to support children and their families suffering from the war and people who have left their homes or stayed in the liberated territories.
The Spilno (“Together”) project has eight locations in Kharkiv. Five are at metro stations, and three are on the ground. Moreover, there are nine spaces in Kharkiv Oblast in Balakliia, Krasnograd, Krasnokutsk, Valky, Pervomaisk, Lozova, Zmiiv, and Izium.
