On Feb. 26, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov met with the former Prime Minister of Albania, People’s Deputy of the Republic of Albania, head of the Friendship of Albania and Ukraine group Pandeli Majko.
This was reported by Kharkiv City Council.
Albanian People’s Deputies Denis Deliu, Kemal Chefalia, and Honorary Consul of Albania in Ukraine Shahin Omarov also took part in the meeting.
Ihor Terekhov thanked the guests for their political and humanitarian support. According to him, after winning the war, the city of Kharkiv will be restored and the world community is expected to participate in this process.
“We have always had friendly relations with Albania, we have partner cities. I am grateful to you for your help in difficult times, for coming to see the destruction caused by the Russian aggressor, and I am sure that we will rebuild Kharkiv together,” said Terekhov.
Majko noted that it was his fourth visit to Ukraine and the first to Kharkiv and assured that his country would continue to provide all the necessary assistance.
“I saw terrible destruction. If necessary, you can count on our support,” Majko emphasized.
The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Albania was opened in Kharkiv in 2015. In 2021, the building was ruined due to the Russian shelling.
On Feb. 9, the project “Ukrainian Bookshelf” under the patronage of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska was presented in the second populous Albanian city Durrës.
