UKRAINE, CRIMEA Feb. 16, — The drones operated by the Prymary special unit destroyed the Russian Pantsir-S1 air defense system in Russian-occupied Crimea south of Ukraine, the main intelligence agency of Ukraine (HUR) reported on Feb. 16.
HUR added that Prymary destroyed the Nebo-U radar system and a Project 02510 BK-16 landing craft during their attack on the peninsula.
“The military equipment that cost millions is now being turned into scrap metal because of the work of these specialists,” HUR added.
The Pantsir-S1 is a medium-range surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery system used by Russia to protect military facilities, including Kerch bridge, which connects the Crimean peninsula with Russia. The cost of a single system ranges from $15 to $20 million.
In 2025 Ukrainian long-range attacks destroyed half of Pantsir systems, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) claimed on Feb. 14.
SBU also added that by destroying Pantsir systems Ukraine breaks through Russian air defence, making military bases, warehouses, and airports vulnerable for Ukrainian air attacks.
