UKRAINE, Mar. 9 — In February, Russians used 18% less FPV drones over the frontline, which supposedly connected with Ukrainian attacks on Russian drones storage arsenal, said Oleksandr Syrskyi, the Commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Forces.
For the first time since 2024, Ukraine has regained more territory than Russia has captured, Syrskyi said.
He added that Ukrainian forces are carrying out counterattacks in the Dnipropetrovsk region. DeepState, an OSINT war-monitoring group, also confirms Ukrainian counterattacks on this axis.
Since the beginning of the operation, Ukrainian forces have regained control of 285.6 square kilometers (about 110 square miles), Syrskyi said.
The commander-in-chief also said Ukrainian forces had struck 81 targets inside Russia.
Syrskyi added that Ukraine has achieved a cumulative effect — a 24.8% reduction in the total volume of oil refining in Russia.
He also highlighted Ukraine’s successful missile strike on the Votkinsk plant in Udmurtia, which produces Iskander-M and Oreshnik missiles. In addition, the 18% decrease in the Russian use of FPV drones in February may be linked to Ukrainian strikes on Russian UAV arsenals.
In February, Ukraine’s missile forces carried out 228 strikes, while the Air Force conducted 104. Ukrainian drones also completed about 293,800 combat missions.
