UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, June 11 — Ukraine has opened its first armored vehicle repair and production workshop in partnership with Rheinmetall. This will speed up the repair and maintenance of German equipment in Ukraine, announced Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Dmytro Klimenkov.

Since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion, Germany has supported Ukraine in the defense sector. The country has provided various types of assistance, including the supply of military equipment and weapons. In recent years, Germany has provided Ukraine with armored vehicles, grenade launchers, anti-aircraft missile systems, tanks and other equipment.

As Dmytro Klimenko said, Ukrainian specialists will work at the joint production facility, while representatives of the German partner provide technical supervision, said Klimenkov. In the future, he noted, it will be possible to produce new equipment for the Ukrainian military.

“The opening of Rheinmetall’s armored vehicle repair and production facility in Ukraine will strengthen our defense capabilities. We are grateful to our German partners for their trust and support, which allow us to move confidently towards victory and integrate into the European collective security system,’ said Dmytro Klimenkov.

The German-Ukrainian company RHEINMETALL UDI LLC (RHEINMETALL UKRAINIAN DEFENCE INDUSTRY LLC) was registered on October 18, 2023, in Ukraine. This was announced during the German-Ukrainian business forum in Berlin.

In February 2024, Rheinmetall, Europe’s largest ammunition manufacturer, announced its intention to open an ammunition plant in Ukraine.
