UKRAINE, Nov 22 – Sweden will finance the production of Ukrainian long-range drones. The country will join the “Danish model” of supporting Ukraine’s defense capabilities, which provides direct financing of the defense industry, announced the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov.
Drones of various types became essential in Russian-Ukrainian war after 2022. Ukrainian troops use them for gathering intelligence and tracking Russian movements—they help increase battlefield awareness and carry out air strikes with high precision.
Rustem Umerov said that in 2025, Sweden plans to keep providing financial assistance to Ukraine.
“We are working to ensure that this support is even greater and meets the real needs of our defenders,” said the Ukrainian minister.
Umerov said that special attention will be paid to equipping the brigades of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
In November, Ukraine and Denmark signed several agreements to purchase Ukrainian-made weapons for the Ukrainian army worth $629 million.
Deputy Defense Minister Dmytro Klimenkov explained that, within the “Danish model,” Ukraine pitches examples of weapons and defense projects for review, and Denmark and partner countries decide on support and funding.
