UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Jul 8 — At night, the Ukrainian defenders shot down an unidentified Russian munition over the private sector in Kharkiv, the fragments of which fell in the Osnovianskyi district of the city and caused a fire in a house, reported the State Emergency Service in the Kharkiv region.

Russia attacks Kharkiv region and Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city that’s 19 miles from the border, often since the start of the full-scale invasion, targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure. The attacks have intensified since Russia started its new offensive north of the region in May 2024.

The falling debris caused the building’s roof to catch fire. By the time the rescuers arrived, the fire area was 80 m2. The firefighters put out the fire in two hours.

The Russian shell fragments destroyed one house and damaged other houses in the neighborhood, smashing their windows.
