UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Jul 10 — Russian troops are targeting forests, fields, and agricultural land in Kharkiv Oblast, using anomalous heat to easily burn harvests in the region, says governor Oleh Syneihubov on Ukrainian TV.

“At least five fires are currently burning,” Syniehubov said, adding that Moscow targeted Kupiansk and Izium districts with such attacks. Within both areas, Russian troops are attempting to advance further into the region across the Kupiansk axis.

During the past day, units of State Emergency Services (SES) of Ukraine put out 55 fires in natural ecosystems and five fires that started in the wheat fields of the region.

Russians also deliberately target agricultural equipment, Syniehubov added.

Kharkiv Oblast has been a target of persistent Russian attacks with various kinds of weapons since the beginning of the full-scale invasion — shelling of farms and businesses of the food industry have been frequent.

For instance, 50% of the cow population in the region was killed by Russian attacks.
