UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 13 — Russia lost 71 troops in the Kharkiv direction over the previous day, reported the “Kharkiv” group of forces. 

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

The Ukrainian army also destroyed 30 pieces of weapons in the Kharkiv direction, including two artillery systems, seven vehicles, three units of special equipment, and 18 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).

“In the area of Hlyboke, the enemy is deploying personnel of the 11th Tank Regiment of the 18th Motorized Rifle Division to replace losses. In the area of Starytsia, the enemy replaced combat guards at the positions and carried out evacuation,” the statement said.

According to the “Kharkiv” group of forces in Vovchansk, Russians continue assault operations in neighborhood with high-rise buildings. They also set up new evacuation points for the personnel of the 138th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 6th Army Corps.

Over the past day, the Russians carried out 34 kamikaze drone strikes and 384 attacks on the positions of the Ukrainian troops.

The “Kharkiv” group of forces also reported the Ukrainian army destroyed 90 Russian personnel shelters and two storage sites for ammunition in the Kharkiv direction over the past day.
