UKRAINE, Mar. 18 — Over February 2026, Russia killed 188 and injured 757 Ukrainian civilians, reported the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine.
This amount of casualties is similar to January 2026 statistics, but it is 31% higher than in February 2025 and 83% higher than in February 2024.
Russian long-range weapons, such as missiles and drones, caused about 36% of all civilian casualties. Most of them were in cities and towns far from the frontline.
Near the frontline, short-range drone attacks remained the primary cause of civilian casualties — those killed 52 and injured 222 people.
Russian attacks killed or injured people across 15 regions of Ukraine and in Kyiv, the capital. 97% civilian casualties occurred in areas under the control of the Ukrainian Government.
Also, the UN noted that in February, Russian forces conducted repeated attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, including 6 combined large-scale strikes that caused extensive disruptions to electricity, heating, and water infrastructure across the country.
At least 10 attacks targeted combined heating and power plants responsible for heating during subzero temperatures.
Over the past day, Russian forces attacked Kharkiv and nine settlements in the region with airstrikes, injuring eight people.
This morning, Russians also hit the Kholodnohirskyi district of Kharkiv with a drone, killing one and injuring two people.
