UKRAINE, Aug 12 — Last night, Russian troops attacked the territory of a training unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces with a missile with cluster munitions, killing one and severely injuring 11 soldiers, said the Ground Forces.

Russia has repeatedly targeted soldiers assembled for public ceremonies, in educational institutions, or training camps. The previous attack happened on July 29, killing three and injuring 18 soldiers.

After the Russian attack, the 12 more soldiers asked for medical help with acubarotraumas and acute stress.

“To save the lives of our people, we continue to build shelters at training centers, polygons, and other military objects,” said the Ground Forces.

On July 21, at least a dozen foreign volunteers in Ukraine’s military were killed when a Russian missile struck a military training camp in Kropyvnytskyi, said the New York Times, referring to foreign fighters who survived the strike.

Soldiers with knowledge of the incident told the NYT that it was “one of the deadliest attacks on foreign fighters of the war.”

The base’s air raid alarm did not sound before the Russian attack, one soldier said, and afterward, he was dismayed to discover that first aid kits were nowhere to be found around the mess hall.

Since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion, many foreigners have served in regular Ukrainian Army units or in two dedicated international legions, one subordinate to the army and the other to the military intelligence agency, known as HUR.
