UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Aug 30 — Russia launches a glide bomb attack on Kharkiv, killing at least four, including a 14-year-old girl, and injuring 40 people in Kharkiv, reports Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov on Ukrainian TV.
Russian army attacks Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city, often because it’s close to the border and the frontline. Their attacks intensified significantly since Moscow launched a new ground offensive north of the Kharkiv region in May.
Kharkiv residents heard five explosions between 3:18 p.m. and 3:27 p.m. Authorities reported that Russia attacked at least two districts of the city.
In the Industrial district of the city, Russia hit a 12-story residential building, where at least three people have been killed, reported Ihor Terekhov. The building was damaged and caught fire in the aftermath of the attack.
In the Nemyshlianskyi district of the city, a Russian glide bomb attack killed a 14-year-old girl.
According to the head of Kharkiv police, Volodymyr Tymoshko, Russia hit the city with five modified glide bombs D-30. Head of the regional Prosecutor’s Office Oleksandr Filchankov said the bombs were launched from Su-34 jet in Dubovoye, Belgorod Oblast, a settlement that’s located 25 kilometers away from the border.
