UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Jul 22 — During the week of July 15-21, Russian attacks caused 35 fires in the Kharkiv region, killing one and injuring 14 people, reported Yevhen Vasylenko, spokesman for the State Emergency Service in Kharkiv region, at a briefing.

Towns and villages of the Kharkiv Oblast come under massive Russian artillery shelling and air strikes often, even more so since Russia launched a new ground offensive north and northeast of the region in the Vovchansk and Lyptsi directions in May.

On the night of July 18, the Russian military attacked the private sector and civilians in the village of Hlushkivka, causing a fire in a household building of 60 m2. The shelling killed a woman and injured two men.

On the same day, at around 4:00 a.m., Russians shelled a residential area in Chuhuiv, causing nine cars to catch fire. The shelling damaged administrative buildings, apartment buildings, and houses and injured nine civilians.

On July 20, the Russian army launched a missile attack on the village of Pechenihy in the Chuhuiv district, injuring a woman. The shelling set fire to the structural elements of a warehouse building of an agricultural enterprise on an area of 30 m2, and dry grass on an open area of 200 m2 caught fire.  

In addition, on the night of July 21, Russians launched a missile attack on the residential sector of the village of Bilyi Kolodiaz in the Vovchansk community. 

The explosions damaged residential buildings and outbuildings, setting fire to a building of approximately 70 m2 and injuring two men.

  • On the night of July 18, Russian troops dropped a FAB-1500 bomb on Kupiansk, Kharkiv region. The attack damaged a house and a two-story building of an enterprise, reported Oleh Syniehubov, Kharkiv Oblast Governor.
