KYIV, UKRAINE, Dec 18 — According to sociologists, compared to December 2022, criticism of the authorities in Ukraine has increased.

59% of Ukrainians trust both President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyi. A fairly small proportion of respondents have politically polarised views. The results of a poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology show this.

For instance, 14% of respondents trust Valeriy Zaluzhnyi while distrusting the President, and only 1% trust the President but distrust Zaluzhnyi.

The poll shows that, compared to December 2022, criticism of the authorities in Ukraine has increased. At the same time, the Armed Forces continue to enjoy absolute trust in society.

The proportion of people who trust the Verkhovna Rada has decreased from 35% to 15%, while the share of people who do not trust it has increased from 34% to 61%. Trust in the government decreased from 52% to 26%, while distrust increased from 19% to 44%. The President is trusted by 62% of Ukrainians.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have 96% of trust. In addition, 88% of Ukrainians trust the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi.

Gwara’s choice

Most Ukrainians support Ukraine’s membership in the European Union and NATO (78% and 77%), but their number has slightly decreased compared to June 2022.

Half of Ukrainians do not trust politicians — poll. Instead, citizens trust their closest family members, relatives, and friends the most. 51% of Ukrainians do not trust politicians, while 26% believe in their honesty. A third of citizens also distrust state and local authorities.
