UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 1 — The Russian troops strengthened their frontline positions near Hlyboke, Kharkiv region, with assault groups from the 11th Tank Regiment of the 18th Motorized Rifle Division, reported the “Kharkiv” group of forces.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

According to the “Kharkiv” group of forces near the village of Lukiantsi, the Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed the field depot of the 380th Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 47th Tank Division of the Russian Armed Forces. 

Near Starytsia, the Russian army fired at Ukrainian Defense Forces positions from a T-62 tank and a BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle.

The military reported that near Tykhe, Russia is increasing the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to adjust mortar fire.

Over the past day, in the Kharkiv direction, the Russian military launched dropped a glide bomb (KAB) near Vovchansk. They also launched 35 kamikaze drone strikes and fired 481 times at the positions of the Ukrainian army.  

Over the past day, Ukrainian defense forces killed 126 Russian army troops in the Kharkiv direction. They destroyed 69 pieces of weapons and military equipment, including one armored combat vehicle, eight artillery systems, 11 vehicles, seven special equipment units, 42 UAVs, 76 Russian personnel shelters, two UAV ground control stations, and one field depot.
