UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 16 — The Russian army lost 107 troops and 75 pieces of equipment in the Kharkiv direction over the past day, including one armored combat vehicle, 11 artillery systems, 14 vehicles, nine special vehicles, and 40 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), reported the “Kharkiv” group of forces.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

The Ukrainian forces also destroyed 36 hideouts of Russian personnel, one fuel and oil storage, and one motorized rifle company’s checkpoint.

The “Kharkiv” group of forces reported that near Hlyboke, the Russian military conducted a search and evacuation of casualties and carried out logistical support activities via drones.

Russians regrouped their personnel to continue the assault near Lyptsi and Vovchansk. Near Lyptsi, they are building up the communication system and replenishing ammunition and water supplies.

Over the past day, the Russian army conducted two airstrikes in the Kharkiv direction, using five glide bombs (KABs). They hit Ukraine’s positions with S-300 and Kh-59 missiles. The Russians also carried out 65 kamikaze drone attacks and fired 393 times from other weapons at the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
