UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 29—In the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops keep trying to push Ukrainian soldiers out of their positions and intensify aerial reconnaissance. However, they suffered losses trying to regroup, reported the “Kharkiv” group of forces.
Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)
The military reported that the Ukrainian forces defeated Russian troops near Hlyboke while they were trying to regroup. However, they strengthened aerial reconnaissance near Starytsia and Ohirtseve and replenished mortar units near Lukiantsi.
In Vovchansk, “Kharkiv” reports, Russians attempted to deploy personnel to the central part of the city using two tanks and two armored personnel carriers to conduct an assault. However, they suffered losses and retreated.
The “Kharkiv” reported that over the past day, Russians conducted six airstrikes in the Kharkiv direction using glide bombs (KABs) and 22 unguided aerial missiles. They also fired 393 times at Ukrainian positions over the past day.
The Russian army lost 110 troops in the Kharkiv direction over the day, reported the “Kharkiv” group of forces.
Also, the Ukrainian troops destroyed 71 units of weapons and military equipment in the Kharkiv direction, including one tank, one armored combat vehicle, one air defense system, seven artillery systems, 17 vehicles, two special vehicles, 42 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), 45 shelters for personnel, and one ammunition storage site.
