UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, May 22 — Ukrainian company XTI Engineering publicly presented the demining complex “GART 5100.” It is a humanitarian demining machine, 80% made of Ukrainian components, said the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.
“Kharkiv region is one of the most mined in Ukraine. 36% of our territory was under Russian occupation, and taking into account the area of active military operations, about 60% of the region is potentially mined. So, cleaning our territories is one of the main tasks,” said Oleh Syniehubov, the governor of the region.
The development started in 2023 when the Kharkiv military administration created a working group to design the first Ukrainian demining machine. Kharkiv company XTI Engineering realized this project. Today, GART 5100 is already operating in mined areas.
“In 2022, we didn’t have any Ukrainian demining technology. Now, more than 10 producers are creating various machines and equipment. It is an example of the dynamic development of the industry,” said Yulia Svyrydenko, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade.
The complex can neutralize different types of mines and other explosive objects on various soil types. Operators drive “GART 5100” at a distance of 600 meters or more, and it is equipped with a system of observation cameras with a wide viewing angle. The machine can clean more than 2 hectares per day.
Earlier this month, the “HALO Trust” nonprofit organization passed to communities ownership 18 demined agricultural territories, including the most mined territories near Kamiana Yaruha and Korobochkine villages of Chuhuiv district.
