UKRAINE, VOVCHANSK, Aug 14 — Geolocated footage published on August 13 indicates that Ukrainian forces recently advanced within central Vovchansk, reported the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in their recent campaign assessment.
Vovchansk is a city north of the Kharkiv oblast located 5 kilometers (3 miles) from the Russian border. In 2024, Russia launched a new offensive north of Kharkiv. In Vovchansk fights are still ongoing.
The General Staff reported that over the past day, Russians attacked Ukrainian positions five times north of Kharkiv, including Vovchansk, Kamianka, Zapadne, and Fyholivka.
ISW noted that Russian forces also attacked Vovchanski Khutory, Synelnykove, and the left bank of the Vovcha River on August 12 and 13.
According to the General Staff, the Russians conducted three attacks near Holubivka on the Kupiansk axis.
ISW reported that Russian troops also attacked near Kupiansk itself, near Myrove, Kindrashivka, Kolodyazne, Radkivka, Novovasylivka, Kamyanka, and Krasne Pershe on August 12 and 13.
Earlier, the operation-strategic military grouping “Dnipro” reported that Russians tried to enter Kupiansk in small assault groups.
Russian forces also attacked near Velykyi Burluk and Borova settlements on August 13 but there are no reported advances in this area.
Over the past day, Russian troops launched FPV drones at six settlements in Kharkiv Oblast, killing one person and injuring another.
