UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Oct 16 — Russian troops have advanced in the area near the village of Kolisnykivka in the Kurylivka community, which is 24 miles from the city of Kupiansk, reported the Institute for the Study of War (ISW). Kyiv hasn’t confirmed this information as of October 16.

One of the main goals of the Russian full-scale war is to capture the remainder of occupied Luhansk and Donetsk Oblast; their operations on the Kupiansk-Svatove-Kreminna line are dedicated to that. From this section of the frontline, they also aim to push into Kharkiv Oblast and re-occupy Kupiansk and Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, important logistics hubs for the region.  ʼ

According to the data analysts obtained from geolocation footage, from October 14 to 15, the Russian army advanced southeast of Kupiansk along the Kupiansk-Svatove-Kreminna line.

According to Russian military bloggers, ISW reports that the Russian military has blocked the Kupiansk-Borova highway near Kruhliakivka. However, as analysts noted, this information has not been confirmed.

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russians probably launched a mechanized assault trying to support offensive operations near Hlyboke and Lyptsi, but, according to the ISW, these actions were unsuccessful.

Russian military bloggers claim that Russian reconnaissance and special forces groups are operating in and around Vovchansk.

In addition, Russian forces are allegedly intensively shelling the road between Vovchansk and Lyptsi to block Ukrainian communications and logistics. However, there is also no confirmation of this information from official sources.
