UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 16 — The Rapid Response Team (RRT) begins their work in the Kharkiv region to provide prompt assistance to communities affected by shelling, representatives of various state- and non-governmental humanitarian organizations and charities told Gwara Media.
Towns and villages of the Kharkiv Oblast come under massive Russian artillery shelling and air strikes often, even more so since Russia launched a new ground offensive north and northeast of the region in the Vovchansk and Lyptsi directions in May.
Communities will independently determine the amount of assistance they need and submit the relevant applications to the Rapid Response Teams’ coordination center, which will process the requests and react promptly to provide necessary aid.
According to Tetiana Drozdova, head of the Unity and Strength charity foundation, this joint initiative of charitable organizations will help to provide faster and more effective assistance to each community in the Kharkiv region.
Russian attacks on the region often target civilians. Oleh Syniehubov, governor of Kharkiv Oblast, reported that over the past day, the Russians shelled the village of Prykolote, killing two people and injuring six others.
On August 15, Russians also dropped a glide bomb (KAB) on the village of Zolochiv, injuring six people, including a child.
