UKRAINE, KHARKIV, Aug 6 — The Russian army hit a healthcare facility (polyclinic or outpatient clinic) in Kharkiv’s central Shevchenkivskyi district at about 9:53 a.m., injuring at least eight people, including a child, reports the local Prosecutor’s Office and Gwara Media journalists from the impact site.
Russia attacks Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city, often because of its proximity to the international border and the frontline, with various types of weapons. Attacks have significantly intensified since Moscow launched a new ground offensive north of the region in May.
The Prosecutor’s Office adds that, among the injured, five people got hospitalized, while another three, two women of 69 and 36 years and an eight-months-old boy, experienced an acute stress response after the missile attack.
Kharkiv Oblast governor Oleh Syneihubov says that fire spread out at the impact site in the aftermath of the Russian attack. The missile damaged a health center, civilian cars, and other civilian buildings. He noted that two of the injured people will undergo surgeries.
According to Syniehubov, preliminary investigation shows that Russians attacked the city with Iskander missiles.
On the night of August 6, Russia launched missiles at Tsyrkuny, a village northeast of Kharkiv, damaging a residential building that also caught fire after the explosion.
