UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep 18 — On September 17, the Russian army dropped glide bombs on Kharkiv and its suburbs twice in one day, injuring nine people, including a 15-year-old boy, reported Oleh Syniehubov, governor of Kharkiv Oblast.
Russian army attacks Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city, often because it’s close to the border and the frontline. Their attacks intensified significantly since Moscow launched a new ground offensive north of the Kharkiv region in May.
The Russians injured four rescuers who were cleaning up the aftermath of a fire in the city at the time of the attack. Three of them have severe injuries.
Oleksandr Filchakov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, told journalists of Gwara media that at 3:10 p.m., the Russians launched four airstrikes on the territory of Kharkiv and the district. The first one was hit the Mala Danylivka community, where there were no destructions or casualties. The attack hit the open area.
“Then, there was a strike in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv. The Russians hit the open area, the industrial zone, and the location where firefighters were cleaning up the aftermath of fires in the forest,” said Oleksandr Filchakov.
Viktor Zabashta, director of the regional Emergency Medical Center, told Gwara Media that two of the victims had traumatic amputations.
On September 16, Oleh Syniehubov reported that since the beginning of the year, the Russian strikes on the Kharkiv Oblast killed 321 people, including 16 children. Russian attacks also injured 1,954 people, including 155 children in the region.
