UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep 12 — The Kharkiv Regional Defense Council announced mandatory evacuation of 269 children with families from 29 settlements in the Kupiansk district, reported Oleh Syniehubov, governor of Kharkiv Oblast.
Towns and villages of the Kharkiv Oblast come under massive Russian artillery shelling and air strikes often, even more so since Russia launched a new ground offensive north and northeast of the region in the Vovchansk and Lyptsi directions in May.
Oleh Syniehubov said that 158 children will be evacuated from ten settlements of the Kupiansk community, 41 from six settlements of the Kurylivka community, and 70 from 13 settlements of the Kindrashivka community.
The governor said ten families have been evacuated already, and the work is ongoing.
“All evacuees will receive material assistance from international partners, including the UN, as well as humanitarian, psychological and legal support. All those who need it will receive temporary accommodation or, with the support of Ukrainian railways, assistance in evacuating to other regions of Ukraine,” said Syniehubov.
