UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Sep 5 — As of today, the evacuation of residents from the Vovchansk, Lyptsi, and Kupiansk directions is underway in an intensified mode, said Oleh Syniehubov, governor of Kharkiv Oblast, on Ukrainian TV.
Towns and villages of the Kharkiv Oblast come under massive Russian artillery shelling and air strikes often, even more so since Russia launched a new ground offensive north and northeast of the region in the Vovchansk and Lyptsi directions in May.
Oleh Syniehubov said that the Russians look for civilian cars, vehicles of the State Emergency Service, the National Police, and ambulances in these areas and conduct “targeted strikes” on them using FPV drones, artillery, or other types of weapons.
“We block several streets in Kupiansk as civilian traffic along these highways is currently extremely dangerous due to the enemy’s targeted shelling,” emphasized Oleh Syniehubov.
On September 4, Oleh Syniehubov reported that Russians shelled Vovchansk, where the evacuation of civilians was underway. The shelling injured a 19-year-old volunteer.
