UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Jul 19 — In the Kharkiv direction, Russians attacked four times near Hlyboke and Vovchansk. The Ukrainian army repelled three of the attacks and another one is ongoing, reported the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as of 4 p.m.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

In the Kupiansk direction, Russians attacked the Ukrainian positions near Novoosynove, Petropavlivka, Synkivka, and Stelmakhivka. Ukrainian troops repelled four attacks, and another one is still ongoing, reported the General Staff.

The “Kharkiv” group of forces reported that, over the past day, Russian troops conducted 10 air strikes on the Ukrainian position, using 22 glide bombs (KABs).

They attacked near Vovchanski Khutory, Starytsia, Lyptsi, and Vesele. They also conducted 42 strikes with kamikaze drones and fired 423 times at the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

  • The President of Ukraine called on international partners to lift restrictions on the use of Western weapons and strengthen Ukrainian air defense. He added that the Russian offensive on Kharkiv had been stopped because Ukraine had managed to attract “unquestioning support” from its partners
