UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Aug 5 —  Over the past day, Russian troops tried to storm Ukrainian positions 11 times in the Kharkiv direction near Lyptsi, Hlyboke, Tykhe, and Vovchansk, reported the General Staff.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

The General Staff reported that in the Kupiansk direction, there were six combat clashes over the day. Defense forces repelled Russian assaults near five different towns and villages. The Russian army conducted two attacks in the direction of Petropavlivka.

The “Kharkiv” group of forces reported that in the Kharkiv direction, the Russian army evacuated wounded from Vovchansk and carried out an internal rotation of personnel.

In the nine-story block, the Russian army is preparing for assaults. They are building up personnel in the basements to continue further attacks on the Ukrainian defense positions.
